Ground-Up Home Build with Ipe Pool Deck and Steel Street Fencing — Valley Glen
Completed April 2025- Scope
- Full ground-up single-family construction: framing, concrete tile roof, cement-plaster and stacked-stone facade, masonry-pier steel fencing with driveway and pedestrian gates, banded concrete driveway and entry walkway, front landscape with raised planters, and an ipe hardwood deck surrounding a new pool and spa.
- Materials
- Cement plaster, stacked natural stone veneer, concrete roof tile, black steel picket fencing, CMU piers with smooth stucco finish, broom-and-band finished concrete, ipe hardwood decking, composite privacy screening at the rear yard.
- Site challenge
- A standard Valley Glen lot with a narrow side yard had to hold a driveway, a pool, and a usable deck without the yard feeling cut up, while the street elevation still needed privacy from a busy frontage.
- How we solved it
- The pool was pushed to the rear property line and wrapped in a continuous ipe deck that steps up into the covered patio, so the deck reads as one plane instead of separate zones. Street privacy comes from masonry piers with steel infill — solid enough to screen at eye level from the sidewalk, open enough to keep the facade visible.
- Result
- The exterior envelope, hardscape, fencing, and deck were built under one scope and one schedule, so the driveway joints, fence bays, and deck lines align with the architecture rather than being fitted afterwards.
