Ornamental Iron Dual-Swing Driveway Gate & Modern Horizontal Fence — Los Angeles

- Fency Builders Inc installed a dual-swing ornamental iron driveway gate set between stucco-finished masonry columns, paired with a continuous ornamental iron perimeter fence featuring matching decorative ring-and-picket panels. A separate project visible in the photographs shows a full-width horizontal-slat metal fence and matching sliding gate installed across the front of a contemporary two-story residence. Both installations serve street-facing frontages on flat urban Los Angeles parcels.

- Ornamental steel pickets, arched dual-swing gate panels, and perimeter fence sections finished in black powder coat; stucco-clad masonry gate columns with cast ball-cap finials; decorative ring scrollwork and spear-tip picket tops on the swing gate; a LiftMaster dual-gate operator with surface-mounted control box and wiring conduit; natural stone veneer base plinth at the driveway entry; a separate horizontal-slat metal fence and slide gate in a matte black finish set on steel base feet anchored to a concrete apron.
- Site challenge
- Flat urban parcels in Los Angeles with wide driveway openings require a gate structure that spans a large clear opening without mid-span sag while coordinating with existing hardscape — here a concrete driveway apron, brick paver borders, and a masonry stone entry plinth. Integrating automated operation into masonry columns also requires surface-mounted conduit runs and a properly rated operator enclosure exposed to full Southern California sun and seasonal wind loads.
- How we solved it
- The dual-swing gate is fabricated with a pronounced arched top rail that adds structural rigidity across the full span, reducing flex at the mid-leaf junction visible in the closed position. Heavy-gauge horizontal stretcher rails are welded at regular intervals down each leaf, and the gates are hung on heavy strap hinges pinned directly into the stucco columns. A LiftMaster operator is mounted to the interior face of each column with conduit routed down the column face to a weatherproof disconnect and control box, keeping mechanical components protected and accessible.
- Result
- The completed swing-gate entry presents a cohesive ornamental iron assembly — arched profiles, ring scrollwork, and spear-tip pickets — that reads as a unified perimeter from the street. The horizontal-slat front fence on the contemporary residence delivers a clean, privacy-forward enclosure whose sightline gaps and matte black finish are consistent with the building's modern stucco-and-dark-cladding facade.
